Kirk Acevedo Biography Kirk Acevedo is an American actor best known for his work on television and film. Biography Born November 27, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York, to Puerto Rican parents, he studied at the High School of Performing Arts and Purchase University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts & Film. He graduated with a BFA in drama from SUNY Purchase.
Acevedo gained fame as the twisted inmate Miguel Alvarez in HBO’s prison drama Oz, giving us a frightening character whose mind was continually tormented by the morality of good and evil. For his portrayal, he garnered numerous ALMA Award nominations. He also demonstrated his ability to break hearts in the miniseries epic Band of Brothers, playing Joe Toye, and in the science fiction series Fringe as FBI Agent Charlie Francis. Filmography His movies include The Thin Red Line, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and The IROAD HORROR: THE LAST KEY.
In addition to his acting, Acevedo co-founded the theater company The Rorschach Group and has been featured in video games, including the voice of Jackie Estacado in The Darkness. Famous for his challenging and intense roles, Acevedo also has a talent for comedy.
