Brooke Adams (actress) – Brooke Adams – American actress, whose remarkable work has led to success in stage, television and film. She was born into a family of arts people; her mother, Rosalind Gould, was an actress, while her father, Robert K. Adams, was a producer and a former executive at CBS. She has a sister, actress Lynne Adams.
Career Adams was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and started acting on television at a very young age with her first role in the TV movie, The Great Ice Rip-Off, at age two. She went on to study at the High School of Performing Arts and the School of American Ballet. She began the 1970s with the title role in a 1970 American International Pictures psychodrama called Angel Angel Down We Go, and it was under the name Zee Zee Top that she had a significant break from Hollywood in 1972 as “Billi Wild in Calendar at Cuckoo’s Nest”, Page 3 of LA. The career of Valerie with or without the Top consisted of mainstream following alt films, with a breakout appearance in Terrence Malick’s 1978 Days of Heaven and a featured turn in Philip Kaufman’s 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Other notable films include The Dead Zone (1983), Gas Food Lodging (1992), and The Baby-Sitters Club (1995).
On television, Adams has appeared in series such as Thirtysomething (1987), Moonlighting (1985), and Monk (2002–2009), in which she made several guest appearances. She also had a lead role on the web series All Downhill from Here (2015).
Adams, on the personal side of things, exchanged the wedding vows with actor Tony Shalhoub in 1992. The couple has two adopted daughters and has been a creative duo on various projects, such as the film Made-Up (2002). Adams is also a painter; she honed her skills during a stint living in Spain as a twenty-something.
In a career that has crossed five decades, Brooke Adams has sustained a rising career, having worked with some of the most legendary directors in the business.
