Frankie Adams is a New Zealand-Samoan actress renowned for her portrayal of Bobbie Draper in the acclaimed science fiction series The Expanse. Born on January 3, 1994, in Savai’i, Samoa, she is the eldest of three daughters. At the age of three, her family relocated to Auckland, New Zealand, where she attended Auckland Girls’ Grammar School. Fluent in both Samoan and English, Adams began her acting career at 16 with a role in the long-running New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street, playing the character Ula Levi. She later appeared in the Australian series Wentworth as Tasha Goodwin.
In 2016, Adams was cast as Bobbie Draper in The Expanse, a role she portrayed from seasons 2 through 6. Her performance garnered praise for bringing depth to the character of a Martian Marine struggling with identity and purpose in a politically complex universe. Adams has also featured in notable films such as Mortal Engines (2018), One Thousand Ropes (2016), and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017). In 2023, she starred alongside Sigourney Weaver in the limited series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart and appeared in Taika Waititi’s film Next Goal Wins.
In 2024, Adams was announced as part of the cast for Disney’s live-action adaptation of Moana, portraying Sina, Moana’s mother. She also joined the ensemble of The Wrecking Crew, an action film featuring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista. Currently based in Los Angeles, Adams continues to expand her international career, balancing her acting endeavors with her passion for boxing.
